    Running stride

I just realized after video taping myself run that I run flat footed. Now I know this is highly ineffecient. Is there anyway to correct my stride to a heel-toe foot strike? I tried lengthening my stride, but that doesnt feel comfortable, maybae cause I'm not flexible enough yet?

I think some is leg strength and some is muscle memory, when you run with a longer stride you WILL get tired faster, but improving your stride length and pace will drop your times fast.

Try jogging for like 2 min then for 30 sec run at a hard pace, not quite a sprint pace but fast, then back to jog. keep repeating that for your whole run.

Or pick a place 40-50 yards in front of you and run hard to that spot, same results your just not watching the watch.

if you run 3-4 times a week do this at least 1 of those runs.

Might also try running downhill, you naturally take a longer step downhill

when you run hard try to kick off you toes and land between your heels and midfoot

I think overtime when people don't run a lot they take shorter steps to keep from getting winded, if you only run every once in a while, i think your brain reprograms you to take a short step, just a idea don't know

or just tie a steak to your leg and jog past a BIG DOG

also might want to check your area for a running specialty store, some have treadmills and will film you and have an expert offer advise most of the time free.
Might also join a running club, many clubs have college or high school coaches that have their team members meeting there and they will offer free advice.

Be warned though, running really good is tough to master...i'm not there, but it can be addictive once you really start making improvements
