I'm almost certain if I could get her started losing, she would continue. But, that's where I'm failing. I can't get her out of the house to get started. I mean, the temps down here in combination with humidity don't always make for comfortable conditions for walking or working out, but I get out and mow my yard and weedeat the perimeter every week. And that's regardless how hot it is, in addition to the walking I do at work.
I showed some old pictures to my son's g/f last week, and she asked who the blonde woman was sitting next to me. I told her to ask my wife. Well, she said it was her long, long, long ago. As if that would never happen again. Last time she had a doctor's exam, the doc said she was "healthy as a horse", and the wife came back with "Yeah, and big as one, too!" Doc did the  at her, but knew it was true.

In an attempt to lose the "little bit" of "pudge" that I have, I have started going to the gym. I haven't noticed much change, but I think I may be trading fat for muscle, since the scale is holding more or less steady.

But anyway, if I disappear forever, it's probably because I keeled over of a coronary on the elliptical.

Seriously. Those machines say, "Stop if you feel pain, faint, dizzy, or lightheaded." Or? What about AND? All of the above, yes! Plus I feel like my heart is about to spring forth out of my chest like some demon-spawn and go bouncing across the floor while I heave my guts out. Gah.

Back 30 years ago, after my first wife and I separated, I noticed my middle getting soft, so I decided to start an exercise regimen combined with lots of walking. I actually noticed that after six months I had actually gained 6 lbs, but it was solid muscle. Best shape I was ever in! Not that good anymore, but not that young anymore, either.

Ah, I see you are taking my advice and trying the Red Butted Baboon routine. Don't worry, it won't stay numb for long. I guess I forgot to mention that with this routine, you do need some rest periods as with all workouts.

Ha. Yeah. I haven't been taking part in that exercise routine for, uh, years now. (I'm sure when I do get around to "working out" again, it will probably result in even more injuries [especially injuries to my ego]). :D

Nah, I think it was a pinched nerve or something, but I'll tell ya, it sure didn't feel good.

Oh well. Back to the gym Monday. My ultimate goal is to meet the recruitment standards for the Marine Corps.

You guys are trying to lose weight and I am putting it back on. I was sick for almost a week, and I plummeted in weight from 201lb's to 190lb's. This isn't a good thing for me since I compete year round in powerlifting at the 198lb class. Nothing is more frustrating than coming back to the gym after injury or sickness and feeling weak.

I am going to have to work my butt off here to add more weight. The World Police Olympics are a year away, and that Gold is gonna swing from my neck.;)

I was 230 pounds last year. Water consumption is the best thing, it's alright to have soda once in awhile but water is your best friend. Cardio helps ALOT and weight lifting. I lost 80 pounds and now I'm perfectly healthy, also I have a 6 pack. I didn't care for one but now that I have abs, they're pretty amazing. :D

Yeah, I wouldn't mind 6 pack abs. Mine look more like someone threw 18 beers into a sack.

I guess it could be worse.

Just do it !!!! Good Luck
if i ate 3 small portioned meals a day, my body would start eating itself. i agree with the 'fad diets are crap' statement but that's pretty much it (aside from drinking plenty of water which is sortof a blanket statement....more like 4+L). salt isn't necessarily bad depending on your health and dietary needs, there are some great fats out there that are necessary to implement in order to lose weight adequately and training 3x per week doesn't work for everyone either. just a few thoughts ;).
