    Question NYPD academy training anyone??

    Hi members,

I'm wondering if there are any recruits or current POs who know anything about the trainings within the academy. My understanding is that the class will start approx. Jan. 10th, and I need to get ready PRONTO!!

At the moment, i'm pretty pathetic, I ran a 1mile in 13min. today, and walked most of that since I cannot catch my breath. And I didn't even get to check what I can do with situps or pushups yet. Please fee free to reply back with YOUR way in training for the academy, and as always, you help is deeply appreciated!!

See you recruits in the academy, and congrat. to the recent class that just came out.

its running and then a cardio vascular workout. This includes jumpin jacks pushups situps and all sorts of exercises. Im a weight lifter, thats all i do, but im just naturally in shape so i didnt have any problems. the runs are quick. Atleast a mile and half in 13 mins. If you cant run now, dont expect to be able to run in january.

Thanks for your insite Lax, but I am not going to stop now since it's getting so close. I do however would like to see the training regiments that recruits are doing in preparation for this.

run..... run...... then when you cant run anymore.... run some more! The only way to get better cardiovascular wise is to keep pushing yourself on your runs until you gets better. There are no shortcuts with this.

That's pretty short time. You should have prepare for this way before. I'm in the US Army reserve and we do a PT test every 6 months. I used to run fast, 2 mile in 13.29 sec but since I'm in a "comfort zone" and in college life, I never run. I prepared myself 2 months before and I started running on a treadmill. I put incline up each time and put faster speed. After a while, I started running outside and passed Pt test. Didn't get 13min but still passed 15 min in 2 miles. Good luck in your training!.
