    Where to start?

I'm a junior in HS, and want to be a police officer after college. I'm the type of student who always picked the academic ietms over sports. For example, in my city, high school students only need to take gym class for their first two years, it is optional after that. So I dropped the class ASAP and picked up an regular instructional class. I've also never played sports in high school. So I was curious where people thoiught I should begin trying to get ready physically (keeping in mind, i'm not very out of shape and am 5'11 and weigh ~155. My mile run is roughly 10-11 min.)

You need to put on some weight. Hit the weights, eat all the meat you can, and drink a protein shake in the morning and evening.

Start running. You have to get your minute mile down to about 8 minutes.

Try this work out schedule. This schedule is meant to get you ready for the Navy Seal BUD's training.

Not, a problem I am hopefully gonna try to start this schedule next week. I really need to get back in shape:D Just remember you do not have to do everything (Like the swim) if you do not want to or have access to a pool. It is generally just a good schedule and a good build up.

    Good Luck

Oh, I definitley uinderstand that. Since I've got 6 years by my estimation until I have to start applying to agencies, I figure I'll take it slow. Afterall my body started getting sore just reading the schedule.

Not a bad idea either to call the agencies or the counties your interested in and see about getting their standards for passing the physical agility exams they offer. There are a wide array of standards used depending which agencies you look at.
