Somehow on the day of the test, when the chips are down, you will find that you can push harder than you thought.
No matter how tired you are , you CAN sprint a little at the end of your run.

I have exactly one week until the test. I went running today and ran 1.5 in 13:46! That is the exact, longest, acceptable time in order to pass. I think some of it might have to do with my new running shoes. Anyway, I am going to a gym this Wednesday that has the bench press machine Illinois uses when they test. I have to bench .98% of my body weight. Last week that was 216 pounds. Today it is 210. I've been lifting so I think I'll make it. Thanks for all the help so far. I'll keep my progress posted.

Answer 1.
Buy a car with a bigger motor.
Answer 2.
It all depends on what time they close. Is your local K.F.C. or Mc Donalds 24/7 ?
Answer 3.
Never let your muscles relax before a test. It can be sooooooo dissapointing if you dont have a rubber band and a popsicle stick that can be used as an emergency splint. :D
Preparation is the secret in most cases. Be prepared to eat less junk, walk more often and run like an *** full of figs!
Best of Irish luck to you in your effort.
Running sucks, that's forsure, but like stated before it's a needed evil!
Take a look at this site for good running form - I found proper form and breathing helps!

I would say running everyday, namely if you're going hard, and not just out for a little jog, is ill-advised! A solid run every 2nd day with maybe some other cardio on the opposite days would be better.
PT is a love/hate relationship - wish there were more hours in a day!
Well.... How did you do on the testing?
That question is a little premature. I believe that it is around October 22nd or 25th.
October 10th 2006I have 12 days until the actual test.
10 plus 12 equals 22. right ?
October 18th 2006I have exactly one week until the test.
18 plus 7 equals 25, right ?
I hope that there is not a compulsory Math test (whichever day you decide to do the run !:D
The test isn't until the 22nd, which is the 2nd day of academy. I ran again today at another 13:46. It is slow, but its a pass. I'll run a couple more times before the test, but I think I'll pass now!
Wow I feel like an idiot. I was looking at the join date. Sorry, and good luck.
I'm feeling really good about my run. I tested myself for sit-ups today and passed with 2 more than I needed. The only thing I not sure about is the bench press. They use a specific machine that I can't practice on. I've been lifting and losing a little bit of wait so I should be fine. I start Sunday so I'm not sure when I'll get to update, so thanks again to everyone for all their helpful advice.
You will do fine man. Just keep doing your lifting and then rest a couple days before you go to test. What kind of machine is it? Maybe I can give you some bench pointers.
BELIEVE that you can and you can ACHIEVE.![]()
7 days before the run lower your carb intake and eat less, then 3 days before it, increase your carb intake and eat more and hydrate tons..try doing dynamic stretching before you run, my teams pyshiotherapist(spelling error  ) makes us do it before games and tournaments and it helps quite a bit.
OK now how did you do?
Sorry for the delay in my response. I've been kinda busy this week with everything they through at you at the academy. Anyway, I passed everything without any problems. I did my run almost 2 minutes faster than before. I had no problems with any of the other events either. Thanks to everyone for all their help and advice!
