So last night, after reading a great thread on RP with tips on "scaling a 6-ft wall", I went on a search for a solid 6-ft wall to practice on. I was surprised to find a bright blue, 6-inch thick, concrete wall in the middle of a local school yard. I measured the wall and find that it is actually 6'6", but I figure, this should work...
WRONG.
I got a 20 ft. running start, leaped up in the air, and SMACK! My body slams hard against the wall. I do this about a dozen times - same result. I felt like a fly trying to get through a glass window.
Granted, the wall was 6 inches taller than the 6' requirement, but I'm just shy of 5'8" - I shouldn't have a problem. But I just couldn't pull myself up. I also tried putting my foot on the wall to leverage my lower body strength, but I couldn't get a firm placement.
I'm not about to give up (in fact, I'm thinking of adding the song, "The Wall" to my workout playlist for added motivation!), but I have a hard time envisioning myself ever tackling that wall. Did any of you have a difficult time with this, or am I really in trouble? Do you have any additional tips to share?
