    Body for Life program

Anyone ever follow this program? I started it a few years ago, got about half-way through it, and just stopped for no reason.

I saw decent results just following the workout routines, but didn't follow the food guide at all. Well, figured I'd start it again. Went out and got the book and journal today and will start officially on Monday with a buddy. Right now I'm 5'11" and 168 lbs with a bit of a gut. It's a 12 week program, and I'd like to get up to around 185-190 lbs and loose the fat. Will probably have to follow the routine for two or three 12 week cycles to get those results, but that's my goal.

Anyone have any advice or success with this program? Anyone have issues with it? Thanks in advance!

i've never used the program but know a handful of folks that have had a lot of success with it. IMO it's a great starting point.

ive been in the same boat as you with regards to gaining solid weight. I am 155 right now and im 5'7. I have probably 6-8 percent body fat and continuosly lift weights(4 to 5 days a week). Honestly, to tell you the truth, to gain weight and loose the fat is really hard to do. Ive been a personal trainer for 3 years and have talked to numerous nutritionists who i have worked with and they all told me to cut it down into steps and eat healthy. Basically gain the weight first, hopefully more muscle then fat, then change your diet and workout regime to start cutting out the fat. Its worked for me and the plan you are on is def. a great starting point. good luck!

Well, so far I've been consistent with the workout routines. As for the eating portion, I'm not quite up to six small meals each day. Currently I'm eating two larger meals (but less food than I used to eat) and two to three myoplex shakes a day. Though I have been eating much more healthier foods when I do eat and I'm down to only drinking water and unsweet tea. (Still have to have my tea!)

Thus far my weight has basically stayed the same, anywhere from 166-170, but I have definitely gotten stronger and I'm just about able to tighten my belt another hole.:D It helps that I have at least one person to work out with each day to keep motivated though.

The good thing is, the myoplex chocolate shakes are starting to taste like a milkshake, and not something foul like it did at first.

I was planning on going on this program, but from these few replies it sounds like too much work. I'll make up my own program. :D

to tell you the truth, i love myoplex as well. They definitely are the best taking protein shakes out there. But my advice to you is watch the amount you are having per day. The shakes are a supplement and should be used to supplement your diet. They really shouldnt replace meals. SInce you are trying to gain weight, start eatting, eatting, eatting! 6 meals a day atleast. I used to eat every two hours when i wanted to gain weight. But this is only my advice, if youre doing your thing and its working for you, def. keep at it. Good luck!

    lax,

I know what you mean, and I should be eating more. My problem is, I'm just not hungry that often. In the past, this would mean I would eat one very large meal each day, and then a snack at night. I wasn't eating healthy foods either when I would eat. I'm still getting used to eating more and speeding up my metabolism. I'm still not ever that hungry, but that is changing, and I've eliminated a lot of bad food.

I'll get it down eventually, but I'm starting slow. Thanks for the encouragement!

no problem. Honestly, its reallly hard to gain weight. I personally think its harder to gain weight then to lose weight. But just like losing weight, to gain weight you have to train your body to take in excess calories. Those excess calories will eventually lead to weight gain. You got a good head on your shoulders and if you ever need any advice with lifting, dont hesitate to private message me and ill be glad to give you any advice that has helped me in the past!

If anyone needs help gaining weight, spend a weekend with me and my family...a nice Italian party weekend should teach you a thing or two...
