    Cutting Caffeine

Monday, I decided to cut every liquid out of my diet except for water, milk, and 100% fruit juices. I used to drink a lot of diet soda, and have felt that it's time to cut that out, as I've changed my eating habits (more natural foods, no high fructose corn syrup, no junk food) and stopped drinking alcohol. I don't think I've ever been as lethargic as I have been these past few days - it's strange, I think. I spoke with my doctor, and she said that this is due to caffeine withdrawl. I guess that makes sense...she said to give it a week to get out of my system, and allow my body to get rid of the junk I've consumed. The problem is, it's cutting into my workouts because I just have no energy. It really sucks...have any of you encountered this before? Any ideas on how to get some pep in my step without caffeine? Thanks all!

I was that way when I quit smoking. As far as caffine, I usually just get headaches. It will get better. Just think what you would be going thru if you did a real fast!

...you said the word fast and a tear rolled from my eye. I'm an Italian boy...you can't take food away from me...:(

Haven't had headaches...just really, really tired. I think it's the caffeine inside me trying to trick me into ingesting more caffeine. The little buggers are very very sneaky...

Cutting caffeine is hard. I remember how I felt when I stopped drinking it for a while. Headaches, lack of will to do much. But I did notice a few differences. The swelling in my stomach went down, I had no stomach aches, and generally I felt a lot better. Though I'll advise this. If you cut cold turkey, I wouldn't recommend picking up pop with caffeine in it ever again. Your body will literally shake and you might feel weird. If you do desire pop, go for caffeine free like Root Beer.

Welcome to the club...Ive been Caffeine free for a little more than one month now and all I can say is it is worth it. I wasn't dependent on it to begin with but just wanted to focus on eating more "whole" foods and getting my daily H20 intake higher. However since I changed my diet and sleep schedule I have found myself feeling more positive and just overall healthier.

    Clean for almost a year!

This is something I’m quite proud of. I quit drinking all soda products in June of last year, and I’m still clean today!! heh. This is one of the smartest changes I’ve ever made. It was hard the first 2 weeks. I went through this faze that I just wanted to kick someone’s *** for no reason. I was just pissed off all the time. But when that past it was smooth sailing.

I have absolutely no good advise to give, sorry. I am the queen of chocolate, junk food, and coffee.... In fact, I had gone to Einstein Bagels this morning. They have this coffee called CHOCOLATE LAVA JAVA No need for explaination there! :p

I was gonna make a thread about how awesome it is. Now, after reading this one about getting healthy, well, I feel a little funny. So, I will just say....GOOD LUCK...and better you than me! If I had to give up chocolate or coffee, I think I'd die!

My gf is the same way...it sucks when she wants dessert, because she'll get some nice ooey gooey brownie and I'm sitting there with a fruit cup.

hell, when I run, i always get some caffeine in me. Red Bull is good because it has no high fructose corn syrup and significantly less caffeine than coffee. Energy drinks being harmful for you is debatable. always in moderation.

Why are you guys down on caffeine? There is a lot of recent research indicating that caffeine is not bad for you at all. The last batch I have seen sor tof have it at a draw. There is a good deal of medical publications actually looking into the benefits of caffeine.

As long as it is not in morbid excess, there are so many other things to worry about before caffeine.
