Need help\advice for MHP Trooper school in 7 months.

hey Guys, im 22 years old, i am 5ft 11inches, and i weigh about 260.

I am wearing a size 42 Pants and a XXL shirt. I hide my weight really well, but im still quite unhappy with it all.

I plan on attending MHP Trooper school in November.

Before my dad will let me get in, he requires me to beable to run 5 miles.

im slowly getting better at motivating myself to get these things done. The only problem i have, is eating. I love to do it.

I work on an ambulance for 12 hours a day, and its really hard not to snack while at work. At the end of this month, i am swapping to a 24 hour ambulance truck where we actually have a station to stay at. Will be easier there, b\c i can use the fridge there and store things.

    Does anyone have any tips\suggestions?

The more you run the better you will be at it. You better start cracking, 7 months is not a lot of time.

    /agree

Once you start running you will get into the habit of it. Once you are in the habit of it STAY IN THE HABIT.

I have also found that most times after I run, I feel like working out even more. And the next day I can't wait to get out on my run again. Just stick with it and don't let anything side track you from your routine. I know how easy it is to make up excuses and not go for the run.

Also, you don't have to do 2 hours of cardio everyday. If you get busy and can only manage 20 minutes of cardio, its better than not having done any at all.

What I like to do is when I am tired of running I changed the scenery and tempo. Instead of running on the track in my local high school, I go to the park or a trail. Make it interesting and fun. I bought a Nike Triax Speed 50 watch in which it keeps all the runs. So what I do is shadow them and it will tell me if I am on the pace or not. Also you can program your watch so you can use the HIIT program.

In terms of eating, gradually get off the crap. Example if you drink whole milk, level down to 2% and then skim milk. If youre a soda drinker, level down to diet coke and then water. You will lose some pounds just by doing this.

You're in a better position than I am. I'm 5'8" and i weigh about now about 240, i was 270 2 months ago. I'm starting the academy in 1 month. Waist was around 48, I've dropped right now to eh, a lil under 44.

I'm on a program called SGX by swolecat (www.gotswole.com) I do cardio everyday and weights about 4x a week, really loses a lot of fat and helps build lean muscle. Eating's not a problem, theres a lot of food to eat, it' sjust finding the healthy kind and not snacking.

The main thing really, whether it to be any diet or not, is eating the right foods (tuna, chicken, greens), exercise!!! and drink lots of water.

It can be as simple as whats more important to you. Getting in and passing trooper school or food? Wasnt a decision for me, When I knew I was going to have a physical agility test in my process so I altered my diet drastically and workout religeously. Its all about motivation and want!

Umm...granted the quotes above are hand-picked...and granted what I am saying adds absolutely NO value to your threat whatsoever...But what does your dad have to do with anything?

my father has been a trooper all my life. My last name means alot at the highway patrol. He is in a high position of authority currently within the State. So, i cant just go in there ,and embarass myself and foul the reputation.

With that being said, don't f*ck up. Work your *** off and eat helathy. Water is your friend. You should lose a couple of pounds right off the bat (1 week). Good luck.

gotcop, ya i agree. i cant **** up at all. to much is riding on it.

The guy helping me out, is one of the instructors at the Academy. So im safe to assume, he knows what he is doing. Im following his program to an exact T.

This is something i want, more than anything. I looked into the mirror today, and noticed that i have lost inches off of my somtach, which really excites me, and motivates me even more to keep going and keep pushing myself!

i usta not like water.... but i do now. every now and then ill drink sugar free koolaid and stuff just to change things up.

Before you talk about your dad, this job is all about you.. It's how much you want to do this job and that depends on your working out motivation too. If you are motivate enough than nothing is impossible.. good luck..

ya, this job is all about me. but there is alot riding on this. If i wash out, it wont look good on me, or my father.

but i dont worry about it anymore. i WILL make it into patrol school, and i WILL be a state trooper 18 weeks later.

I see troopers all day at work. my job, with MHP Comunications. I install the lights, sirens, radios, ect ect in the trooper cars. My primary job, is the lightbars. thats what i do all day. and i love it. im so close to troopers all day and i drive the cars i build sometimes too. Did that today, and what a motivational tool that was!!!!!
