I started working out again back in Feb and hit the free weights again a few weeks later. Iam making good gains in bench and general heavier weights. I bought a 2 lb.er of Creatine alst night and Iam on my second serving.

I don't use it, but I heard a lot of stories about it. Make sure you drink a lot of water!!!!

I used it (along with protein) while in Iraq for 6 months. I can't say if it was the creatine, the protein, the eating 4 meals a day or just adhereing to a good program, but I had pretty good results. I threw on about 15 lbs (good weight) and my bench is up to about 285. That's anout 50lbs or so higher than what it was when I started.

That being said, everything I have heard supports protein and a good diet being much better bang for your buck. If you are already doing protein and a decent diet, then the creatine really can't hurt.

I hav eheard of the creatine messing you up (cramps, etc.) when not properly hydrated, so keep that in mind. It was 115 outside when I started taking it and I never had problems, but I drank a ton of water... which you should be doing anyways.

I used it during football season, it made my bench go up around 20 pounds in a couple weeks. I also worked out 3-4 times a week with it and I gained around 10 pounds of muscle. Like the others said drink a lot of water.

Thats what Iam worried about. I get low blood sugar easily but know ho to handle it, I just eat something good like banana or some peanut butter on bread. I took the first serving last night and exactly 2 hours later I was spinning and shaking. Like a crack ho that needs a fix. Had some pnut butter on whole wheat and it went away.
I just got back from the gym and I feel good. Guy at the gym said to do half servings 2Xs a day. One scoop in AM b4 work out and abnother scopp later on. He also said I will retain water from taking it, now I know what the wife will be going through...
    Thanks for the replies.

I've heard that it's better to take it two weeks on, two weeks off so that your body doesn't get used to it. Any truth to that as far as anyone knows?

Well Ive used it for about a week or so. Problem with me getting results is Iam on night turn, so working out at 0715 is tough anyways. I did go 20 lbs heavier today on my bench and 10 lb more on the incline dumbells. Maybe it does work. Iam not taking it everyday caiuse it has tons of dextrose. I dont really want to gain weight. I think I'll get some good protein powder next. Thats probably the best basic supp. to take.

If you care about your liver and kidneys don't use it. I was on it for a while, and I stopped. I talked to a gastroenterologist MD after my regular Doctor sent me to him and he said people who take creatine wind up having organ problems down the road. Look at Arnold, now he has so many liver and kidney problems from all the stuff he took back in his bodybuilding days. My Doctors said there is a reason why the FDA doesn't approve supplements like creatine. It's ultimately your body and your decision, just ask your doctor, he probably would not advocate it.

Creatine is great, when I used to work out it was my supplement of choice, get a straight creatine supplement rather than one with dextrose, take it with fruit juice and keep the water intake up. I put on over a stone of decent weight with creatine and a heavy training regime over a period of about 3 months.

As long as you don't use very high doses of creatine for very long periods the health risks are non-existant. If you are going to start drinking protein stuff buy quality products not some cheap nasty **** from the back of a magazine:rolleyes: Cheap protein, especially when mixed with milk will give you all kinds of bloat/gas/bad breath/cramps and the dreaded protein ****s. I used to use http://www.maximuscle.com/cyclone.htm

While I gained a pretty substantial amount of wweight in 6 months with creatine, I lost about half of it within a few weeks of getting off of it. I woulod attribute most of it to loss of water weight, as i can still see the results of my workout routine and protein.

I am sticking with the protein, but I am not going to boter with the creatine for now. I still think it is a great supplement, but it is a distant 2nd to a good whey protein.

Agreed, and same here. In the past I have had excellent results supplementing my diet with just whey protein.
