    Running.

Just wanted to share some of my excitement. Currently I run with a couple of cops from the local PD every mon and thurs night. I'm 19 about 5'11 and 160 lbs so I'm not over weight, but wow was I out of shape. When I first started I could run one lap, breather, another lap, breather etc. Then I came up to two laps and a breather. Well, I finally hung for a whole mile the other night. It's a pretty good feeling sicne I didn't think I would ever get used to running, and my time was 7:45. So not too bad, my goal now is to get to 1.5 miles. Once I can accomplish that I'll work on my time a bit, ultimately I'd like to get it down to under 12 minutes. Anyone else start out as slow as me?:D

Oh I definitely was there about a year ago. I found the key is to be consistent and run atleast a few times a week. Before you know it, you'll breeze through the 1.5 mile.

In the academy, I found out by the end, we'll be doing 8 miles, so I'm keeping up with my daily running so I'm not one of the cadets left behind in the dust :D

Thanks for the reply, yeah 1.5 is my goal for right now, I've still got a little while before I'll be applying to a PD so if I can just get into decent shape I'll be happy.

    8 miles= :(

A guy in my MP school had a 10:01 two mile time. I was the guy with the 15:43 two mile, and still just as bad :D

Thats still pretty impressive my friend.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, I haven't ran in about a week, I've been lazy lately, tomorrow night I'll run and hopefully I can push out a mile like usual.

Went and ran last night, it had been raining all day so it was wet and cold outside, but I hadn;t ran in a week so I knew I better. Man it kicked my ***, I had a pretty bad pain in my stomach afterwords but I'm just glad I did it.

I pushed a little and did 1.5 in 11:30 and for grins ( I havn't sprinted a 1/4 mile in ages) I went and burned off a 1/4 ( after running 2 miles but did take 5 in between) in 90 seconds. Not to bad for someone who was 3 when JFK was shot
