Voluntary Fitness Standards for full time LEO's

Does anyone work at a police dept. ( of any kind) that has a voluntary physical fitness program ? Or do any of our non-Leo members know of a PD that has such a program ?

If so , I would like to be able to see the specifics or a contact name that I could follow up on would be nice.

FYI, my neither my dept. nor any other in my county has any kind of mandatory or voluntary fitness standard. As long as you pass the initial hiring tests , you can become the biggest couch potato in the state. And , the dept. cannot mandate any kind of program without negotiating with our police association.

Ya, at CBP it's completely voluntary if you want to stay in shape or not... Not required by any means, just voluntary! We don't even really have to pass anything when we start so I think we trump you.

We (VA State Police) have a voluntary fitness program. We are tested every two years during our inservice training. Everyone is required to participate in the testing, but there are no minimal standards. For people who achieve certain fitness levels they are awarded either additional vacation days or cash awards.

We are tested in the 1.5 mile run, sit-ups, push-ups, pull-ups, and sit and reach. The Department wanted a mandatory fitness program, but since they do not provide us time to workout our legal advisor said they couldn't make it mandatory.

I'll look for our manual on the Fitness Program and try to send it tommorrow when I'm at the office if you PM me an email address.

We have a compulsory yearly fitness test here in the UK if you carry a gun if you don't then you can get as lardy as you want.

Hey try to go to the Coopers Institute. Here in Ohio LE has to meet the 70th percentile to be certified
