Last year I started to cycle to work 4 days out of 6. I lost 14 lbs of chewed bubble gum in about 10-14 days, and over the summer about 30 lbs. I Cut out all the soda pops and just ate fruit and chicken salads and fish.

I felt better for it, but it did hurt. Anyway I packed it on again for the winter. Gonna start riding in again.

i just lost 4 pounds in my gut laughing at that. :D

i've never been a runner. NEVER! i burnt up the track in high school once with a 10 minute mile. school was over and done with by the time i finished that mile, and athletics class was first period.

a couple years ago i started running. i walked about the first 1/4 mile then ran until i couldn't run anymore. then i'd walk until i caught my breath, then run again. i did that at first doing a mile and a half. after a couple of weeks, i was able to put all my runs together and make it a complete mile and a half. i'd walk the first 1/4, run 1.5, then walk another 1/4. after a while, i was running 3 miles a day. i lost about 30 pounds without trying too hard. i got my 1.5 mile down to 12 minutes. i was satisfied. like i said, i'm not a runner.

it's been a few years since i quit running, and being on the road and college took a toll. that 30 pounds i lost snuck up on me and is now back on board. i'm back to running again now, but i'm adding weights into the mix. the worst part about the whole thing is just getting motivated to start. it's so freaking hard making yourself get up at 5am to go run when it's just so much easier to sleep until 7. once you get past that, no problems.

Everyone has some good advice. Let me throw some in too I guess. I lost 30+lbs since Dec working with Kettlebells. Read through the site, they have really good info on losing weight and gaining "functional" style strength. Just my .02 cents. Good luck.

P.S. Milfitmag.com is also a good place to get good information. Stay away from the supplements. I am trying to get off of them myself. All they do is wind you up. Like stated above, a cup of coffee will do the same thing.

My gym just bought a few pairs of kettlebells - I have yet to attempt to use them, for fear of looking ridiculous, but I'm thinking of starting. As a matter of fact, I haven't seen ANYBODY use them at the gym yet...

And they probably won't. I was very skeptical about them at first, until I tried them out. Now I don't step one foot in the gym anymore. The KB's gave me what I was looking for, "functional" everyday strength. In the gym you sets are usually done in a certain way, straight up and straight down. With KB's sets are different with every rep. Yes they are generally the same, but not really. All the research I did before ordering mine convinced me to try them out. Military SF units use them, Fed LEO's use them (according to the magazine I get from the Dragondoor.com, a set usually travels on Air Force 1 for the SS agents that use them). I wouldn't recommend just picking one up and start throwing up some exercises without doing research on the proper form. They can "smack" you if you aren't careful. Good luck....all of this is my opinion of course.

    hmm

Reminds me of a short story........

I had a fat kid in one of my LE classes and I heard him talking to the professor about how he couldn't understand why he was fat (morbidly obese). The professors answer to him was very simple. he said " it's because you eat too much and you don't exercise enough". That was the end of the conversation.

I thought about that and agreed. Anyway, just do some cardio and cut your calories. I tried hydroxycut and lost about 10lbs. good luck and let us know how you do.
