RAVENNA, Mich. (AP) - Police say they got a warning from the FBI about two men shortly before they robbed a Michigan bank and struck and killed an officer during a high-speed chase.
Inspector David Roesler of the state police Grand Rapids district headquarters told The Muskegon Chronicle for a story Thursday that the Rockford Post was told to keep an eye out for the men, who had been under surveillance in the days before the Muskegon County robbery.
Roesler said such alerts are common.
Walker Officer Trevor Slot was killed Oct. 13 while laying down spike strips to stop a speeding sport utility vehicle on Interstate 96 in Ottawa County.
Derryl LaFave Jr. and Kristopher Cheyne crashed after Slot was hit. They were fatally shot by police when they fired at officers.
