My thoughts & deepest sympathy to Officer Thornton's family & everyone at CMPD on this loss.
Officer Thornton died Friday evening at a local hospital after a flash bang detonated at his home as he was handling SWAT equipment.
Officer Thornton had just returned to his home after serving a SWAT warrant. He had 28 years & was up for retirement in June.

I did not know officer Thornton, but my heart is very heavy this morning as I have "a few" friends left at CMPD who have not retired.
I can't say thank you enough for all you do each day. PLEASE stay safe.Please know that I pray for each of you daily. Be very careful out there & BE SAFE.
