I could see avenue of investigation where he may have been thought to be a witness against others in return for a reduced sentence. We all know people will do some crazy sheot to avoid jail/prison. I can only imagine what goes through a cop's head when facing that inevitability.
Of every one hundred men, ten should not even be here. Eighty are nothing but targets. Nine are real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the One... One of them is a Warrior... He will bring the others back.

I wouldn't want to work around any cops that thought like that. That's a huge step from padding work sheets to murder, fear of prison or not. If it's true, PPD needs to reevaluate their psych exam.

I never worked IA, but they used to give criminal type IA complaints to us to work first since we never invoked Garrity. I was only involved in one personally where they was jail time, but like most ones we did, it was a drug and/or drug related case. I admit I kept a shotgun laying right beside my bed at night until it was over, but that was just a precaution, deep down inside I really didn't think I was in danger.

A couple of my colleagues did a couple of cases where there was serious prison time involved though and deals were cut with some to testify against others and nothing came close to happening.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

I'm not saying it's a huge conspiracy of all involved or that it involves another cop at all, but at this point it is something that has to be looked at. What other reason would there be for compelling DNA from those involved in the OT scam and getting shoe impressions from all personnel that were at the scene? The PIO stated they're looking at a few cops after the indictments came out and the PD was given more info on the killing.

Still could be a lot of things besides murder too. Possibly a witness. Possibly someone the Sgt thought would help him stage it as a murder but backed out, etc. It could be just Drenth vaguely testifying he felt "threatened" and the homicide detectives have a ton of homeless people DNA from the scene and they are chasing a lead that is extremely remote.
