I found out today that a very good friend of mine, Darren L., was killed in Afghanistan on Wednesday. He is no longer an LEO, but he was. He was a DUSM in Chicago and served on the SRT with me before going off to the FBI, which he hated. He was an operator in the Army long before he found his way to us, finally finding his calling in the CIA.

Switch, I'm real sorry to hear that, and I think it's a fine post for this area.

How dreadful. I am so sorry. My daughter was in Kandahar last year and now has post-traumatic stress. Australia has lost 11 soldiers in Afghanistan and 1 in Iraq. Many have lost limbs, but the government has not allowed publication of these facts.
