Seattle police were searching for suspects in the fatal shooting of a police officer shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of 29th Avenue and East Yesler Way.

On October 31st, shortly after 10:00 p.m., a Field Training Officer (FTO) and his female student officer were parked in their patrol car in the 100 Block of 29th Avenue South. The student officer was seated in the driver’s seat and the FTO was in the passenger seat. A vehicle that has been described as a light-colored sedan pulled up next to the parked patrol car and the suspect(s) fired multiple shots into the patrol car. The Field Training Officer was struck multiple times, killing him. The student officer received minor injuries. She was able to get out of the patrol car, return fire several times to the fleeing suspect vehicle, and call for additional units. Officers from all precincts responded, as well as Homicide and CSI. This investigation is very much active and ongoing, and is a priority for the Department. Information is limited at this time, as it is still early in the investigation. There is a press conference tenatively scheduled for later this afternoon, where we hope to provide additional information.

From what has been released, looks like this was a pre-meditated cold blooded Murder.

The officers have been identified.

Officer in Training Britt Sweeny was grazed, but will be ok.

Ofc. Sweeny was able to return fire and Seattle PD is saying she struck the subject's car.

Unbelievably cold blooded. Hopefully when they catch this POS he gives the arresting officers a reason to take him out. I found this article on the Seattle times website:

A note threatening the lives of police officers was left Oct. 22 at the site where four Seattle police vehicles were set afire — nine days before Saturday night's fatal shooting of veteran Officer Timothy Brenton in Leschi, according to sources familiar with both cases.

I'll keep you guys updated as I get more news. So far the guy is in Harborview Medical Center in Critical Condition.

The shooting, ironically, took place during the memorial service for Officer Brenton.

Shooter is now in Satisfactory Condition. He should be charged sometime this week.

Some updates...

Looks like shooter will face 5 Felony Charges and Prosecutors might seek the beloved death penalty.

The shooter was linked to a previous incident as a domestic terrorist who bombed a motor pool of Seattle Police cars. He left an American Flag bandana at both the scene of the shooting and the bombing. Investigators used DNA to link the incidents.

It appears he attempted to shoot the officers who attempted to capture him at his apartment complex, but his weapon did not fire as he failed to chamber a round.

He had applied for employment at, but denied by; the Los Angeles Police Dept and Seattle Police Dept.

He had attended Highline Community College and the University of Washington taking Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement classes.
