Orlando soldier Sgt. Randy M. Haney killed in Afghanistan

An Orlando soldier has been killed in the war in Afghanistan, the U.S. Department of Defense announced today.
Sgt. Randy M. Haney, 27, died Sunday in Nangarhar of wounds suffered when his unit was attacked with small arms and rocket-propelled grenade fires.
He was assigned to the 2nd Special Troops Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colo., as a military police officer.
Haney joined the Army in April 2002 and had been with his current unit for two years. He had previously been deployed in Afghanistan from March 2005 to March 2006 and in Iraq from September 2007 to January 2008.
