Line of duty death - VA Beach PD

Today, we grieve the loss of a great friend and co-worker. Officer Rod Pocceschi was murdered during a traffic stop at 0320 hrs. The speeding vehicle he stopped during radar enforcement turned out to be occupied by two armed robbers who held up a local IHOP at gunpoint just minutes prior to the stop. Words cannot express our pain and anger.


I WILL MISS YOU AND REMEMBER YOU ALWAYS


Officer Pocceschi is survived by his wife and child. A memorial fund has been set up to assist his family through this very difficult time. Checks written to Maria Pocceschi can be mailed to the credit union at:

When I went to the pilots website to read about the death, there was also a Virginia State Police Trooper killed this weekend while off duty. May he rest in peace also.

Though I didn't know Rod, my ex wife was a Va Beach Officer and my being a former Suffolk Officer feel for everyone in the Dept.
