Officer Scott Hylton of the Christiansburg Virginia Police Dept. was shot and killed this morning trying to qquestion a shoplifting suspect. Reports state that as soon as Officer Hylton arrived at the gas station the subject began hitting him through the window of his car and managed to get his service weapon. The suspect was shot and killed by a Montgomery County Deputy. Officer Hylton had 20 years of experience and leaves behind a wife and four kids. Our prayers go out to his family.

I live with-in 30 minutes of Christiansburg. Very sad situation and I'll pray for his family. There was another Christiansburg officer killed in 96 or 94 in a very similiar circ u m stances. In Christiansburgs 200 year history these were the only police fatalities. I hope its the last.
