everyone take a min. 5 shot 1 dead, my saddest day

i woke this morning from a phone call, my best friend " T, where you working south last night" "i was, why?" ,, "five south dist. guys shot, one is dead"
these are guys i know, guys i work with, guys i have backed up, guys i have sat around at the local village panty having a diet coke with.
im mad, im shocked, i dont know what to think. when you get that kindda call, just 45 mins ago now from a fellow cop and best friend telling you he is standing honor gaurd at the morgue it gives you a feeling in your stomach you cant describe.
the story, a 911 call comes in at around 2 am. guy says "my brother said he killed my mom" officers respond. get on the scene get out of the car and are met with automatic gun fire. two officers down. one is dead.
more officers poor onto the scene not knowing what exatly they are in for. the officer who was still alive could barley get out what was happening. more officers arrive more officers are shot. finally from what i understand pete coe. an officer i have met a hundred times but just exchanged nods and a hello's took one in the knee and continued to battle back and shot the suspect killing him. FIVE POLICE OFFICERS SHOT,, FIVE.... friends. my back ups, and a couple i dont know but feel no less pain for them.
this piece of ****, has been arrested before, has had mental problems before, has had his weapons taken from him before, was able to get them back and kill his mother, a police officer and shoot 4 others..
there is no explination no reasoning behind it. somone needs to pay, there needs to be a law that the mentally ill cannot have weapons, there needs to be something done about the amount of automatic weapons owned by the general public. that makes a total of 2 officers killed by ak47 in my city in the last 5 years. that is 2 to many, that makes a total of 7 officers shot with an ak47 in the last 5 years. we are out maned out gun, and under protected.
i really hope that everyone on here will take a minute to reflect on what has happened to my department and what could happen to yourself. anyone that i have shared opinions with here if i disagreed or not with you just know i hope you are safe tonight.

Tony I am here if you need to talk to someone. I read this on the Indy Star this morning and figured I would let you post this. I'm sorry to hear that this happend and to my understanding the ******* suspect had been committed and arrest in January of this year at his brothers house. I hear that they also found weapons in the home then to.

I am sorry and I will pray for your department and the officers families.

Mentaly ill can't own a gun in my state Tony. I would hope the department band together and try to invoke the same in your state.

This is senseless and it is even sadder when one of the "good guys" has to pay the ultimate price for protecting a stranger.
