Officer killed in Mobile, AL

Happening right now, will keep everyone posted.

Bad guy stabbed officer at sally port and stole his vehicle and gun. That officer has passed from his injury. Two other officers shot, no word on their condition. Just now after an exchange of gunfire they are confirming bad guy (who had barricaded himself in a house)is in custody, but no word on his condition (alive or dead) yet.

I pray they unleashed HELL on his worthless POS A$$!!

They are just releasing the name of the slain officer. His name was Officer Steven Green. Married, father of three, EOW today, approximately 1600 CST.

The officer that was wounded was named Officer Mark Johnson. He was treated and released and expected to make a full recovery.

No link to either officers picture yet. Will post more as I find out.

Absolutely. Our whole society has become anesthetized to violence since the early 90's or so. Grossman attributes it partly to violent video games and such that kids are exposed to early and I agree. I remember when people were totally outraged by drive by shootings and now it's not that big a deal if no one is hit.

And the general lack of respect for values contributes to it too. It's the gimme and not take responsibility perpetuated by the left also, I think. Sometimes (not often), I'm glad I'm old and don't have to watch this get worse and worse. I feel for our kids and grandkids though. I really do.

RDS, the reports are he was stabbed in the neck. The bad guy then took his car and his gun and ran.

It sounds cold, but it seems if the officer was stabbed in a sallyport, someone may not have done a very good job of searching the suspect before he got in the car. I also wonder if the officer was wearing body armor or was he stabbed in the neck or other unprotected area? After the mourning, people need to pick this apart so that if mistakes were made, they won't be made again. Every death needs to be a training opportunity.

News report I read was POS was initially arrested by off-duty officer during robbery (sounded pretty heroic effort by off-duty officer). Processed at police station and was being transported to jail by Officer Green. They didn't mention whether the POS had the knife or whether it was the officers knife or some other knife.
