I thought I would share an incident that happened to a relative of mine.
Several years ago, my brother was pulled over on the north side of Cincinnati. Apparently he had been drinking.
Basically he swerved while going down the interstate, and an officer pulled him over. As he explained what occurred next;
The officer asked him if he knew why he had been stopped, to which he responded "No sir"
Officer: "I was behind you and noticed you had swerved in traffic a little bit back there, so I wanted to make sure you were OK."
Brother: "Sorry sir, I'm fine, I dropped my cigarette into my lap and was trying to keep from burning myself."
Officer: "Can I ask where your heading this evening?"
Brother: "Yes sir, I was just heading home."
Officer: "Where are you coming from?"
Brother: "Yes sir, I got off work about an hour ago, and stopped to have a beer with my co-workers."
Officer: "How many did you have?"
Brother: "Just one sir."
Officer: "Would you mind submitting to a field sobriety test?"
Brother: "Certainly sir."
The officer ran him through the field tests, and then informed him "Well you don't appear to have any signs of intoxication that would prohibit you from driving. However, I am placing you under arrest."
Brother: "Can I ask what the problem is sir?"
Officer: "Certainly........I am not a sir."
