    I guess I just don't think like a criminal...

Had to return something to Walmart today.

So I stroll through the door, item and receipt in hand, and head to the service desk as I've done several times before.

Halfway there I get chased down by the "greeter", asking me if the item was a return. I said yes. He said he needed to tag it at the entrance. Weird.... ok. I asked him why as I've never had to do that before. He said people have been going around the store, picking up random items off shelves, and then taking them to the service desk to "return" them and walking off with the cash.

I laughed a bit... something so simple yet I would never think to do it. I guess I'd make a poor thief.

I went to walmart today too! Anyway - about ten feet behind the greeter at both doors was a uniformed officer, never seen that before - I asked a clerk what was going on and she said one of the alarms was not working on their doors = they discovered this after several big screen tvs and computers were stolen, seems the thieves worked in paris one setting off the alarm to draw their attention while the other guy walked out with the goods. It seems they have little fear (thieves). So, it was a welcome sight seeing law enforcement there - but an unfortunate sign of the times.
Jim Reed: You just have to know how to arrest them and still make them like you. We call it technique.
