A friend of mine had to put her grandmother in a similar facility. She (grandma) is legally blind, is obviously frail due to her age and lived in a house with stairs. She'd previously broken her leg (last year) and it was horrible for her to try and get around. Add her Alzheimer's to the mix and the facility really became the best option.
In this day and age where a 2 income home is almost mandatory, it really puts the families in a difficult situation financially and emotionally.
