Let's home the weather man is wrong. There is some talk about two feet of snow in two days for this area. This could be bad.

Fantastic!
:(
Yep, just saw the winter storm watch go out this morning. 9-12 inches in my area and I'll be working days during all of it. Lovely!
Edit.... Just looked at the latest predictions now of 10-16 inches. Wow, I knew we couldn't make it throught the winter without getting hammered.

Excuse me Officer, I have a stupid Question. "No problem, I've got a stupid answer for you!"
Good luck to you all. I thought I was having it tough as it is only 10am and the temp has reached 100.

I'd rather have the snow than the freeezing rain. Freezing rain scares me.

We used to get freezing rain and a coating of at least an inch of ice on everything at least once a winter. Fortunately, that seemed to stop around the mid 80's. It is terrible.
For whatever reason, the snow and really bad weather has skipped us so far. This winter hasn't been bad at all.

I guess thats just one of the things about living in the upper midwest. I've seen the actual temp at 107 with a heat index around 130 F. I've also seen the actual temp -18 with windchills near -40F. I've seen flooding, ice storms with wind that make it look like a tornado came through, snow with drifts over 8 feet tall and everthing in between.

Yeah, I have dealt with my share of 130F days (and that is not heat index, but the raw temp) in the mideast. I would prefer the high temp of 7F that we had the week before last. I can always put more clothes on. I get in trouble when I take too much off. LOL
We are looking at 12-18" in this storm. I am glad that both my POV and g-ride have 4 wheel drive. LOL

High temp last Friday 70.
Forcasted high temp Tuesday, a mere 4 days later -2.
Low temps tonight and Tuesday night -14.
Luckily we're not supposed to get much snow from it, just a blast of cold.

Well if you need a snowblower and your around Dayton you can use my Dad's. I bought him one for this season, and he loves getting snow now. He strolls up and down the sidewalks on his street clearing them, and doing a few select neighbors drives too. New toys are fun no matter the age I guess.![]()

The climate here has definitely warmed up over the years. I've seen pictures from the 20's and 30's where the Columbia and Willamette rivers were frozen to the point that cars were driving across the ice. Since I've lived here (1970) it has never gotten nearly cold enough to freeze them to the point you could even walk across much less drive an automobile on it.
As I said before, when I first got here we had horrible ice storms a couple of times a year. Sometime around the mid 80's, they mysteriously stopped. I think maybe we've had three or four since about 1985 or so. Another indicator is that some winters, it doesn't stay cold enough to kill the bugs and we have horrible bug infestations the following summer. I've been told that we need at least about 2 weeks of freezing temperature to kill them. On another note though, the summers aren't getting any hotter though. We still only get perhaps two or three weeks of over 90 degree weather total. The norm is the mid 80's.

Up here in Wisconsin the weather guys are predicting up to two and a half feet of snow by the 2nd. We'll see how my little compact car does in the snow. If anything the Lt offered to send a squad to each of our houses and give us a ride to work. I dont even think we'll get more than 6 inches.
Who do the police call when they need help?
Well last week it was being predicted to be a major winter event.
Right now, it appears to be a non event.
Maybe a trace to 2 inches.....
On a clear night, I can see the other deputies emergency lights at least 10 miles away.
But it isnt flat here LOL
