Currently 22 degrees outside. In central Arizona no less!

I put a patio umbrella over my teenaged orange tree last night and turned the garden hose on a small trickle under the tree to attempt to avoid frost damage. Woke this morning to remove the umbrella and found that the water under the tree was frozen, all the water in the hose was frozen and it was leaking from a frost caused break at the faucet!

I've lived here quite a while and this is about as cold as I've seen it.

and here I was being wimpy about it being in the 30's... that would feel like a heat wave to you guys! -12 I could not imagine that, that is FREEZING! it's funny how people that live in that type of weather just go with the flow my feet would feel like they would break off if i was in -12 weather lol

We're hearing reports here stating how this is the coldest biggest storm to hit you since the 50s & has closed so many airports and roads.

Of course, you breath through your nose so it warms the air up before it goes into your lungs. You have to dress for the weather. I always wear long under wear and we are issued different winter coats and even a full artic parka suit. I either use a stocking cap and gator to cover my face or a full hood baclava. You'll frost bite a little bit of your face that is showing around your eyes, but it's just like getting a sun burn.
Anyway, after a couple of days all our roads are dug out and the main highways are back to normal. A couple of long days working with the snowplows and tow trucks getting all the cars off the roads but I think we only had 1 fatality out in the country from the storm.

it's 30 and sunny right now, I'm considering going out and washing my Bravada
