No one is born psychotic. Psychosis is a temporary mental state that the individual eventually climbs out from. Delusions, hallucinations and paucity of speech are symptoms of psychotic episodes and not all persons diagnosed with a mental illness experience these symptoms.

climbs out of ?? so they can be healed? when I say psychosis I mean just crazy not an actual diagnosis )

I don't think anyone that can kill their kid can EVER be " healed".... I think there is Always a underlying evil of some sorts possibly even at birth... just my thoughts though....I'm no pyschologist... i might ask mine at work though and see what his theory is now I'm curious this would be a good paper to write for my humanities class!!

I don't think all cases, especially ones such as these, can be justified by mental disorders or some "controlling" factor. People have to be held accountable at some point for their actions, and it seems to me that this woman was cold and calculated (but I don't know everything about the case obviously).

That seems to be a big issue today; every evil committed can purportedly be linked back to one's tattered relationship with one's parents or the injustice of society or whatever other ridiculous notion that pop-psychology can find to blame. No one should be punished, everyone should be treated. I just think that's nonsense.

On another note, I read about this story via another website and noticed that a lot of commenters were blaming the woman's actions on the stress of being a military wife. Not sure I buy that either.

No. This woman was not in her right mind when she committed the killings. When she is found fit to stand trial, which I feel she will be, she will be sentenced according to the severity of the crime. While we don't have all the details, there is prima facie evidence that the murders were planned. Pychosis is just a symptom and, in this case, was a temporary one and shouldn't be viewed as a mitigating factor, although her defense attorney might consider otherwise! People do commit evil acts -- agreed -- but I am not convinced that people are born evil if referring to the theological concept of 'original sin.'
