WASHINGTON (AP) - Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Ohio is suing a congressional cafeteria for dental damage he says he suffered after biting into an olive pit in a sandwich wrap he bought there.

Kucinich's attorney, Andrew Young, declined to comment Wednesday on the lawsuit seeking $150,000 in damages from companies involved with the Longworth House Office Building cafeteria. A spokesman in Kucinich's congressional office also declined to comment.

The civil suit filed earlier this month in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia said the wrap "contained dangerous substances, namely an olive pit," that a consumer would not reasonably expect to find in the product served. The suit said that Kucinich suffered "serious and permanent" dental and oral injuries requiring multiple surgical and dental procedures.

Kucinich's lawsuit said the Ohio Democrat bought the sandwich on or about April 17, 2008. He is seeking damages for "past and future medical and dental expenses, compensation for pain, suffering and loss of enjoyment and other damages."

The liberal congressman made an unsuccessful bid for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination.

Two of the companies named in the suit, Compass Group USA Inc. and Performance Food Group Co., declined comment through spokespersons.

He's not ours...he's one of YOURS, Piggy. LMAO Btw, never could get more than a mile from my office building in the snow so I'm in the office making a bed out of the floor. Feel lucky you don't live here in DC around so many timid f'ing drivers who clog up the roads and won't push through intersections in snowstorms. These idiots will sit and watch other people block the intersection light after light and won't edge out there "cause you can't go through a red light now.... that would be breaking the law." God forbid they use some kind of judgment in a wx emergency.
Last time this happened in 89, I got out of my car, walked into the intersection and started directing cars to stop and go when they were supposed to....but tonight I have heels on and couldn't but was pissed enough to do it. :(

Sorry to hear you weren't able to get home because of the snow and that you're having to sleep at your office.

Thanks DoP. I've slept in much worse places and at least they have candy machines I'm just trying to figure out if any other city is as stupid in the snow as DC. I can understand a southern city that never gets snow...say like New Orleans, but we get this white stuff every year, just like clock work. I'm just piggy backing on piggy's 202 beatch session

I saw your posts on another thread about the weather so I'm going to take my comments there so we don't piggy back on piggy's beatch session anymore.

I think the lesson here is that liberals, especially the politicians, simply require endless coddling. And as a politician I'm SURE he doesn't make enough money to cover those expenses...

And since THEY require endless coddling, they believe that all the REST of us also require endless coddling, hence their "nanny state" agenda.

I'm sure it was covered 100% by the Congressional Dental plan. He's after "pain and suffering" for not not realizing that olives could have pits. And for not taking care of his teeth so that biting a pit does so much damage.

I hope those companies refuse to serve anything to Kucinich that could be construed as dangerous for his own safety. SInce he can't handle normal foods, the Cafeteria should limit him to the Gerber line of strained vegetables and fruits. Pricing should reflect the premium service and liability contracts. "Here's your two ounces of strained carrots and room temperature milk with lid and straw. That will be $20, Congressman Kucinich."
