I remember we had one of these self-styled superheroes in the area I grew up in, called himself Captain Jackson. He would patrol the streets in costume, but at least he had the common sense to call 911 for any crimes he came across. Hilariously, a couple other costumed "crimefighters" came out of the woodwork, claiming to be inspired by him, almost like something out of a Batman comic.

One of those guys just recently had his nose broken trying to stop a carjacking out in Washington State.
