Anyone here know what the Urantia book is?
Anyone here know what the Urantia book is?
To answer your question Zendik. No.
Thanks Samuel I have read the material you linked.
To comment further on your question Zendik - I read some of the site, I have to admit to being confused about what it is on about. I am not trying to be offensive and if I am I apologise but I suppose it would take a lot of reading to work through.
Nothing to say - taking the Fifth.
Urantia believers LMAO. Oh man, what a bunch of kooks. To me they are right up there with the people who killed themselves because they thought they were joining a spaceship in a comets tail. Heaven's Gate wasn't it?
Oh are these the people that shouldn't have eaten the rice pudding but went ahead and did it anyway? Bad diet choice.

Oh, I know all about the book, I have it and read it. I wanted to know if anyone else had........
Orleander, your comment is very funny as it's obvious that you have no idea what the book is about.
So, again I was just seeing if anyone else had read it, if not lets just let the thread die....
Thanks.
So what's it all about?

The histroy of our planet, basically... It's a huge book that explains scienctific facts before we knew them, really amazing... There is a LEO here in Portland that read it, he was at the house once and we got talking about it...
The book explaing physics, astrophysics and so much more and much of the info was not known at the time and has been validified since...
Is it anti-creationism?

Oh no it is far from that!!! More than half of the book is about Jesus........
From a documentary I saw on TV, I saw that they talk about the history of Earth (which they have renamed Urantia) from its origin in a sun (ours) thrown out by the now extinct Andronover nebula billions of years ago to the present. Its geologic and life evolution after 'implantation' (which cracks me up) is tracked as well.Originally Posted by Zendik
The Book of Urantia also talks about the life and teachings of Jesus. From sources they just now found, his 'pre-Urantian' life is laid out and the details of his early life on 'Urantia' are told year by year. (YEAR by YEAR! Its amazing what they know feom these never before seen documents) Amazing what they made up (I mean 'discovered') They talked about details of his family life, his religious growth, the death of his 'father', Joseph, and much detail which was apparently withheld from his apostles/disciples.
Haven't read it, no. But I don't need to eat poop to know its yucky. lol Don't get me wrong, there are many many positive things in the book, but I don't agree with choosing parts that you like and forgetting parts you don't like. I've seen too many religions do that.
My 2 cents.
Well any book that explains scientific facts before they were known by modern science is, well, something else. Although I don't understand what you wrote above....Haven't read it, no. But I don't need to eat poop to know its yucky. lol Don't get me wrong, there are many many positive things in the book, but I don't agree with choosing parts that you like and forgetting parts you don't like. Anyway, I've only read the first couple thousand pages so far.....
Zendik I'm intrigued by your comment regarding "explaining scientific facts before they were known by modern science". I'm not being offensive or difficult to get on with and until I read it the meaning of your statement won't be clear to me. Orleander thank you for the background precis, that has helped as well.Originally Posted by Zendik

HG Wells wrote about going to the moon, time travel, atomic energy before it was real. That doesn't make him a prophet.Originally Posted by oscarmitre
