What are your thoughts about the attention-getting antics of today's entertainers???

Most recently, the writhing and slithering around of Justin and Janet at the superbowl? The exposure of Janet's boob at the superbowl? Britney and Madonna's kiss? Christina Aguilera's supposed "growing up" stage in which she "strips"??? What do you think about today's "artists & entertainers"?

Of course it is all a publicity stunt. Got you to look and remember it, didn't it? Personally I could care less. Janet is hot, but too high maintenance for this kid. Brittany is a child and acts like one. Madonna is just being Madonna. Who ever told Justin that he had talent?

I would like to take an impromptu vote, how many of you thought the half time show was terrible this year? How many of you actually think P-Diddy has talent? What about Kid Rock?

I thought the whole halftime show sucked...as did most of the commercials that ran during the game! I only saw a couple that I thought were clever or funny...mostly 8th grade potty humor. I could have done with just watching the game...

It's pretty easy to sit around and say these people are not talented but untill one of us can sing and dance with half the amount of energy they do I would not be as quick to critisize (sp)....
The bottom line is some people DO think they are talented. Looks like they did the conservative thing and bought that alarm clock and did what they had to do to be where they are which is hours and hours of hard work... They pay a lot of taxes and have the right to live the American Dream.

My take on the whole thing.....

Janet could stand on her own w/out Justin (especially w/o JUSTIN), she has the talent. It's sad that she resorted to this type of exposure (NPI) to promote her new album. I wouldn't care if she did it on MTV, but this was a broadcast that would include millions of young eyes. I was even appalled at some of the commercials (ie. the one where the guy sniffs his wife after putting the burger wrapper in the clothes dryer...heavy petting ensues...funny as hell, but not for my kids).
I also think that Christina Aguilera is INCREDIBLY talented, her song "Beautiful" was a great incentive for young minds to listen up. But again, this song is lost on the CD in the mix of a myriad of other songs full of sex and shear unadulterated CRAP delivered with a powerful voice that could again.....stand on its own.

I could go on and on about so-called artist who are in reality just performers. There is a huge difference when I say that. I just brought the whole thing up because I was pissed that it was on a channel and time that was being viewed by so many young eyes.
I think that parents have a responsibility to monitor what their kids see (that is wholly my responsibility, not that of some halfwit collecting a paycheck to show his/her ***/boob)....I don't care what these performers want to do just so long as they don't "sneak it in". I am a firm believer of freedom of speech/expression.....however, we have laws that regulate what is allowed on television and those laws were broken.

Yep, it was inappropriate because it was on Network TV and you weren't expecting it (unlike the language/nudity on NYPD Blue). How many of you watch that show?
I think its more wrong of Britney having her quickie marriage than kissing Madonna. I love Chritina's song/video Dirty. What's wrong with women being as sexually free as men. And she talks about that double standard in one of her song, how men are studs and women are whores for doing the same thing.
Remember Marilyn Monroe standing over a grate and her skirt rising. Now its a classic picture of her.
What do I think of today's artists? Probably the same thing my grandparents thought of Elvis, my Mom thought of the Rolling Stones.
I like today's entertainers, but they are not for my kids. Its why I monitor what they watch/read/listen to. When Janet/Justin did what they did, they took away my ability to monitor what my kids see. Its no different than if my kids ran into a flasher in the park. Yeah, I was MAD!

I'm not really fussed about their antics but I know for certain I wouldnt throw Christina Aguilera out of bed for farting.

I think it suked too. I also think Janet is just trying to steal some of brother Michael's thunder. Ok, bad joke there. But, what was the purpose of it all? Like we've never seen boobs before? Like I REALLY want to see Janet Jackson's? It was in really bad taste and it really backfired on her. I'd rather see the 1985 Bears doin the Super Bowl Shuffle again. Now, that was entertaining! Unfortunately, football has gone the way of most everything else - sex sells. When's the last time you saw an ugly Dallas Cowboy cheerleader? LOL

My wife and I were eating dinner in the mall the other night (very romantic). There is a movie theater inside the mall right next to the food court, so there are always a lot of young teenagers in there. The boys looked like bums and the girls looked like trashy whores. And that's my problem with these so-called performers. Kids look up to these no talent losers. Teenagers want to emulate the behavior of these people and their behavior is appalling.

I think the halftime show was total crap; I used it as an opportunity to make dinner.

The Super Bowl is a fun thing for Americans of all types. <-----thank you. You may stop right there. There is nothing else that needs to be said. ALL types, not just 'your' type.

You're right, it is. But to be suitable for "all types" it has to be suitable for a 10 year old kid to watch, and it wasn't.

Howard Stern hit the nail on the head this morning... Words to the effect of: My 11-year old get so much pornographic spam and offers for breast enlargements, penis enlargments and herbal viagra - seeing a boobie on the TV is nothing!

Tatas, very true but I wasn't referring to the 'entertainment' portion like the halftime show. I was referring the Moveiton ad. In truth I think what Kid Rock did was just wrong, not to mention totally disrespectful AND illegal, no matter how 'good of a gesture' he was trying to bring across.
