    Dry mouth

    http://health.yahoo.com/centers/oral_care/418.html

Is anyone here afflicted with this? Supposedly, it is rather common, and I have heard stats that say one in four people have it...but up until a couple months ago, I haven't heard anything about it. My mom has it, and it isn't the greatest thing in the world; granted there are worse things. When you have it, you can't taste food properly, and if you have a lack of saliva, obviously you cannot digest food properly among other things.

What I want to know is that if you know someone that has it, what do you do to treat it?

My mom has this problem too. She has a constant supply of bottled water. She has to carry water everywhere she goes. She even brings a bottle of water to church and sips from it often during mass. I wonder if people think she is sipping something else. She sucks on candies a lot too. She always has had a problem with tooth decay and has had many teeth extracted. I drink a lot of water too, at least 8 glasses a day, more if I am working out, and usually 2 during the night.

So she hasn't done anything to try and reverse the problem other than drink water? It seems there isn't a lot of options. My mom is going to go for acupunture, as that stuff has worked for me in the past for different ailments, so we will see what happens.

I don't think that she has been officially diagnosed with the condition. She and I are just real thirsty people. But it got me wondering, especially about my mom.
