Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in metro Atlanta tonight, and the area is under a wind advisory starting at 6 a.m. Wednesday.
Some of tonight's storms could be severe, with up to an inch of rain in the forecast.
The wind advisory covers all of north and central Georgia and runs from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday. The advisory means winds of at least 20 miles per hour, and gusts of 35 miles per hour or stronger, are expected. Winds that strong can make driving difficult and with the saturated ground can take down some trees.
We've had a rough fall this year where the rainfall has broken all records since 1870 when the Peachtree City weather bureau was founded.
On the night of 9/15 as much as 24 inches fell here in this county killing or drowning 7 people and washing out over 147 roads and bridges.
For several days highway connections between the northern and southern parts of the county were cut off and only accessable by emergency vehicles.
During the height of the storm a convenience store was robbed and the lone employee, a woman, was murdered. I went by the sheriff's office today and viewed the surveillance camera photos. She was lying flat on the floor in surrender, when the killer shot her in the face.
