    WWII in HD

I have been watching this show on the History Channel for the last couple nights. Man, it's addicting. Excellent show and I've actually learned a lot of things about WWII.

There were a lot of couragious men and women in WWII. And sadly we are losing a lot of the survivors and the stories they have.

If I'd been home, I'd be watching it or recording it.

I'm hoping they will re-run it either this weekend or sometime in the near future.

was able to watch it one night. i saw the taking of iwo jima. in the narrative it was chilling to hear them recount the thoughts they had as they disembarked from the ships and headed to shore.

I was surprised at how much Kwajalein and Saipan were devastated during the war. Both of them have made a remarkable comeback. Other than the occasional live bomb found on those islands, you couldn't tell they were major battle sites.

The numbers were also shocking. 10,000 killed in a single battle. If that happened today, the country wouldn't tolerate it. Germany and Japan would be in control.

I saw it on the TV guide the other night but it was starting when I was getting ready for bed so I didn't watch. It did look interesting & I'll have to make sure I start watching.

Yep. The final episode said that the total number of people killed during WWII was 70 million people. Half of which were civillians. 100,000 total in the Hiroshima atomic bomb.

    Just a tip.

Those who subscribe to Comcast on Demand can find 5 episodes under the HD section.

To you who watched it when it aired, how many episodes did they show? I've found the collection at the website ($30), but they don't indicate how many episodes there are, only that there are 3 discs. I found that by enlarging the pic of the box.

I've copied the 5 to disc so I can watch them later, but I'd be interested in buying the complete set if I don't already have it.
