for those of you coming to visit the wildlife refuge....

We would strongly advise you to stay on the marked route.

Should you decide to stray from that route, please do it
on a day when it is NOT raining.

Barring that, please turn on your 911 GPS in your cell phone.
It makes it easier to find you when you drive down that dead end road
    and get stuck.

(just a hint, we (the nice deputies) dont drive down that road
    when the weather is NICE)
On a clear night, I can see the other deputies emergency lights at least 10 miles away.
But it isnt flat here LOL

    Ha Ha.

I'm in Williamsburg, VA right now, and these people don't believe in bright street lights, nor are some of the exits off of the Parkway kept clear of leaves, either.

Of course, it would probably help if I didn't have "limo dark" tinting on some of my windows...

People who visit National Parks, Wildlife Refuges, and Forests, seem to be getting dumber by the year, if not month. Then they expect people to come rescue their butts.

Heck we just one a not long ago that had a GPS distress device. Pressed it 3 times in 2 days, we finally flew them out of the Grand Canyon and wrote them a ticket. We (& DPS) should bill them for the hectoliters that were lunched each time but we're not going too.

I'll never forget my first visit to the Canyon, watching 7 year olds jump out of their cars and run straight to the very edge with their brothers/sisters pushing and shoving them the whole way. Both my wife and I were in virtual fear of what we thought we were about to see.

There is no guard rails or "gradual descent", people!! Its a mile straight down in a lot of places. even the squirrels fall off and die, sometimes!!

I watched one dumbass climb over a railing to pose on the crumbly rock lip of the canyon for his wife to take his picture.... literally inches from the edge. I started taking photos of him rapid fire to document his actual demise and discount any ones claim that he was pushed. When he climbed back over, I deleted most of them.

IMHO, those people are stupider than base or bungee jumpers, because at least they have a "rescue" device. If you go off that Canyon rim, Rescue is picking up a bag of bones... sometime tomorrow afternoon.

If they fall, is that a bad thing? I figure it just cleans out the gene pool so the stupid ones cant reproduce.
Excuse me Officer, I have a stupid Question. "No problem, I've got a stupid answer for you!"

But then you have several more people have to risk their lives to got the body and/or car that went over.

I really do feel bad for those that went in prepared and have something happen. However when you don't prepare for whatever you're doing and then expect us to come get you, we should be billing them for every last penny they cost us.
