After the huge disappointment with vista I was a bit worried about trying windows 7 but after about 2 months of using it I'm quite happy with it! It's everything vista was supposed to be and more! Run's great, uses less memory, everything "works", looks pretty, simple but familiar interface. I can go on and on.

I use two computers regularly, a desk top and a lap top. The lap top works fine with VISTA and I don't want to mess with it. But the desk top also has VISTA and is slow and unstable, has been for the past year. I doubt anything could make it much worse.....:mad:

I play a lot of high end video games that take up a lot of space and take a lot to run. Windows Vista was horrible for that. I have a couple of friends who are running Windows 7 Beta and they said it's lightyears of improvement compared to Vista.

I am a bit reluctant to go with W7 since I heard that it is incompatible with a number of sites that I visit - ancestry.com, familysearch.com and some others. I do a lot of genealogy research and don't want issues that will compromise my data.

You are right. How a site views/operates is dependent on the browser, not the OS. Programs and hardware need to interact with the OS, so that is where you will see your issues... and the word is that Win 7 is pretty solid. Originally Posted by counihan
