    Question Car Question!

Got new tires about three weeks back. My car made no noise at all until after the tires.
Now when driving I have a squeaking noise, kinda like the bad brakes but NOT when breaking!!

any thoughts? I think I might just 10 W 40 them and see what happens.

You got new tires but how are the brakes?
If the brakes are worn to a certain point there is a small piece of metal that creates a sound so you know the brakes are wearing out.
After a while you will no longer hear the sound because the metal will wear out also and by that time you will need to repair or replace the rotors too.

May be the brakes..get em checked before drums and rotors become issues! You should also have the bearings checked and repacked if you are getting new pads.

The noise may be your bearings, something that should be checked before they completely go - not safe. Does the sound go away after awhile? Like when your car heats up? Your rotors may need to be looked at...not being able to hear the noise it is pretty difficult. Never go cheap on your brakes...people will spend huge amounts of money on their tires and use a coupon on their brakes - always buy quality when it comes to the equipment that will STOP your car!

If it's a Ford or Dodge all noises come standard.

True....and the only noises a Chevy makes are groans as they are loaded onto tow trucks.

Does the squeak go away when the brakes are applied?

Wheel bearings don't live very long once they go bad.

Squeakers on the pads will be constant

If the squeak oscillates, they may have warped you rotor when they used an impact wrench to put your wheels back on

And lastly...........If Outshined is riding with you it is just his left eye squeaking

go back and have the brakes checked; if the squeaking stops when you apply the brakes it means the pads are worn enough for the sensor (that little piece of metal someone else mentioned) to touch the rotor to warn you, HEY GO GET THE BRAKES FIXED...

Oh yeah I forgiot about his squeaky eye.
I think it has to be a warped rotr because its not constant, it moves from wheel to wheel... and not the brakes. It never did it before the tires and I had the brakes done last october.

now....I may cheap on some things but I dont go cheap on brakes or tires. Thats my life, and I kinda liek living it like I am. One good accident and I know how easy it could be different.

Did you have the tires balanced? Are they oversized (read: Larger than stock) tires?

Wait a minute. Outshined, you've got a "squeaky eye", too?

Is that when you place your index finger in the corner of your eye (next to the nose) and apply pressure and it squeaks when the air escapes?

At least that's what MINE does and it freaks people out. :D

Please tell me that's the case because I'd feel so much better knowing that I'm not the only freak. :p
