My favorite is a home made apple pie made with Grannie Smith apples. For a good apple pie or turnover you need a tart green apple and not a sweet or semi sweet one.
Some like to add a scoop of vanilla ice cream to top it off, but I'd rather have a slice of sharp or extra sharp cheddar cheese.
Since I've taken over the cooking it's become a hobby and nothing is more fun and relaxing to me than getting in the kitchen and baking a cake, pie, batch of cookies, brownies (always with walnuts or pecans) or a few muffins. I usually make my desserts from scratch as it's more of a challenge but have used the store bought cake mixes, Betty Crocker being my favorite.
