My wife is a PETA sympathizer. Loooooney. You know what they call fish? Sea kittens. No sh1t. So the other day she is talking about cruelty to elephants in the circus - then asks if I'm BBQing the burgers or the chicken breast. So I stood up and faked indignation and yelled "hypocrite!". She was not pleased.

BTW - the bucket of chicken is freakin' BRILLIANT.

Every cause has its share of nut jobs.

My local humane society is one of the charities I contribute a fair amount of money to. Cruelty to animals pisses me off. Having grown up on a farm, I know there are decent ways to treat animals and still kill them for food. One of my little quirks is I only buy cage free eggs. Putting hens in tiny cages their whole life is bull****.

That being said, PETA is way off the wall..... We have them running around here all the time being idiots.

Humane Society of the United States is a shill for PETA, and not associated with the ASPCA.

Their goal is to end all pet ownership and turn us into Vegans.

I agree with you about every cause having their fare share of loons.

Sometimes, certain individuals use activism as a platform to be angry so it's acceptably justified somehow-it is not.
I love animals, and I will always stand up, defend and speak on their behalf. I do believe in being kind to all life, but I'm not going to spray paint a womans fur coat to get my message across.
This only displays stupidity and lack of rationality.
People are free thinkers, and will come to their own conclusions on what they deem is important in their own lives.
My hope is that when making choices they use compassion when dealing with those whom have no voice.

This thread has reminded me that I watched an Owl take off with one of my dead tree rats the other day...

It was Remarkable and wonderous to see that huge bird zip in and grab it up out of my yard... :D

Sucker had what seemed like a 5 foot wingspan.

I just wasn't prepared with my video camera, though...

We had a pretty good cockfight bust a week or so ago - about 4 dozen birds saved. I wasn't there at the cockfight because I was part of another group of deputies handling a multiple gun shot victim (3 shot, no dead) incident in another part of town. On ours, we had deputies from 4 other stations come and assist (due in part to a bunch of us detaining a boatload of people at the cockfight). We also had Aero and SEB/K9 there - it was a pretty big deal. All said and done, we arrested one of the shooters (who had holed up in his house with 6-7 of his friends) and recovered an SKS type rifle (besides the rifle, there were also .22 and 9mm casings up and down the street) so it worked out pretty good. I got off about 5 hours late.

Here's the kicker. If you search the "right" words in Google, you'll get about 2 pages worth of hits (news articles, videos, stories, etc) regarding the cockfight bust.

I can't find a single mention of the shooting incident anywhere... :confused::rolleyes:

I am an animal lover. I do what I can to prevent harm...and despite any abuse of any kind.

PETA has done more harm then god in this area. Sadly they even have nut jobs that kill animals to prove their point. (smart huh?)

That said, my couisns that have a ranch and like 80 or so head of cattle, I LOVE fresh beef and the fresh veggies next to it. :D

Probably because people killing each other is a way of life in a lot of areas.

Adults (and a lot of teenagers) can choose the life style they lead. Kids and animals can't nor can they defend themselves from people.

I took that little Chihuahua I got that was rescued from a puppy mill to a specialist and found he has some problems with his spinal cord from prior abuse. He weighs all of 5.5 lbs and some asswipe abused him? I'd love to be put in a room with the guy that did that and a #36 Louisville Slugger. Same with some people I've dealt with that have tortured kids.

One of the things I noticed over the years of working violent crimes was that in most instances, victims have done something (in varying degrees) to contribute to their dilemma. Kid and animals never do that. Gangbangers, I've never given a thought of sympathy to. To me the chickens are more worth saving, even if they're eventually sold to KFC.:confused:
