    God I need to move.

I don't know if this goes here or in the other section. don't care today either.

I have lived on this property since Oct of 96, and in this apartment since april of 99. NO I don;t up root easy. I have gone through 3 different companies as they sell them. and too many to count managers.

I moved here and it was an A property its now about a C, which says every thing.
I have seen these apartments fill up with dealers and stoners, I have seen evictions and live through two fires in other buildings.

    now this.

I got a notice last night that there has been "a rash of armed robberies in the parking lot" which is at gun point they are mugging people for wallet, purses and anything else. One person reports that they took his car as wel. (well that's just dandy I thing It was a 09 sports car. (that was told to me they never said what kind of car it was just Chevy).

Being as I leave for work at 530AM and the muggings have happen between 230 to 630...... I do carry pepper spray (that has that ultra light for ID purposes) and all/ I also walk the bug (my dog) before leaving. I have scene nothing.

any thoughts? (besides carrying a shot gun)

Get yourself a handgun. Go to the Shiloh Shooting range there in Houston and have them give you some training. Carry handgun with you from apartment to car.

Then when you have time take a CHL class and get your CHL, and carry pretty much everywhere.

I'd move, if it was my appartement. If you don't feel safe where you live, move to a better place. If you have bad feelings the whole day - move. If you have kids (I think you posted anything like this in one of your former posts) - move as fast as you can.

When my kids had the age of 3 yoa and 11 month I moved from the city (Cologne) to the county, a rural area with only minor crime.

OK, a few years back a neighbour in the house across my house killed his wife, her new lover and his son and, after a while when SWAT had a siege at the house he killed himself. The only survivor was his 8 yoa daughter.

But other than that we only had peanuts of crime in my village. I feel safe, the kids grew up safe and in a nice peacefull neighbourhood. And - not to much here know what my work is:D

Also looking for Massachusetts Police and US Capitol City PD patches now!

My family plans to move when the rumored HUD's are supposed to go up. A good way to turn a great neighborhood into complete crap.

Yeah, I'd be moving before the home invastions start.

In an apartment complex, you have very little control over what management does or what dregs show up.

I'm a squatter, too. I don't move around easy or often. My last home I was in for 17 years and only moved from there because the Landlord couldn't control the trashy Trailer Park that cleared land and set up next to hers.

I've been in a house now for 10 years and don't plan on going anywhere... ever, other than some extended stays out west in various places after my wife can retire.

Surely there are some 'Burbs that are more desireable to live in.

Move...........out of the apartment, out of Houston and out of Texas........Go somewhere cooler, safer, slower.

Getting a gun is good as long as you are willing to pull the switch! Don't even think about getting one and trying to intimidate some thug. He will take it away and kill you with it.

not afraid of shooting anyone that is intending harm to me. I am starting to look but my lease s up next year. Of course my manager thinks most people are over reacting to the letter. (He said that today. My reply, would you let your wife, Mother or daughter live here.....He had to take a moment....)

I am tight with the management as they know I report things and stay clear of the problems. Sadly they will not let me out of the lease. Ok so I have time to look, pack and move - and they started doing a 60 day notice about moving out. I checked my lease.

BUt I have donoe some shooting at a ranger couple years back so its nothing new, but I will get the gun and go the range to get practice.....

    I'm so gone.....

Its a really short step from stickups in the Apartment Parking lot to Stickups at your front door, IMO.;)

Mount one of these by your door until you can get out:

Octagon Gun Clock, Dark Oak, Shooting Supplies, Guide Gear at Sportsman's Guide

My wife finally gave me clearance to order one of these when I get the spare change:

Some neighborhoods change over time and usually not for the better. When I was young and raising kids, most people (like me) lived in 1100 to 1200 Sq. Ft. ranch style homes around here and they were pretty good neighborhoods. The two I used to live in are now almost slums. My oldest daughter talked to a former classmate of hers who is now one of the Asst. principals at her old high school. He told her the place is a like a jungle now.

I'd look at moving before something happens if it's bad enough now to cause you concern.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

Check your civil laws for TX. You may be able to break your lease legally if circumstances have arisen that give you genuine concern for your own personal safety. If conditions have deteriorated way below expectations and the condition of the property has become suspect, most states will permit you to vacate without loss of deposit and such.
Be courteous to all, but intimate with few, and let those few be well tried before you give them your confidence!
