Anyone ever see Charles 'Ches' McCartney alias the goat man who use to travel the country during the 30's and 60's in a wagon pulled by a herd of goats.
One afternoon in the mid 50's while driving through the hills of Chattahoochee county in south Georgia at about 50 mph I topped a hill and there was Ches and all of his goats tied together and spread out in both lanes of the road. If I hadn't hit my brakes hard and skidded off the road old Ches and his herd of goats would've been history that day.
He was such a friendly guy, offered to milk one of his goats and give me a glassful of warm milk, I didn't have the heart to chew his butt out.
I had met him several times before but was always parked off to the side with his herd of about 50 goats, including the she and baby goats, grazing along the rightofway. The billy goats pulled the wagon while the mother and baby goats tagged along behind tied to the wagon.
