I am sad to see the GA tag on this car.

GeorgiaCarry.org is an influential civil rights organization committed to not resting until the State of Georgia ceases all infringements upon the people's natural right to keep and bear arms that is protected by both the constitutions of Georgia and the USA. It's members include prominent legislators, captains of industry, members of the armed forces, police officers, parents, academics, lawyers, and citizens from all walks of life.

I believe that this is taken out of context. They speak much gooder lanaguage in that part of GA than the rest of the US!:D

The really sad thing is that there are so many people who only know one language, English and they're not very good at it.:(

Unfortunately, I've read more than a few police reports that will attest to that, even from those with college degrees. I think college professors either don't know proper English themselves or grade only for content. When I was in college, even graduate school, I would get dinged for spelling (and that was pre spell check) or bad grammar.

Hell, look at the crap people post in Ask A Cop! I'd be embarrassed to put something out there written the way most post.

Well, in college kids have gotten use to spell check automatically correcting any mistakes they enter while typing.

Schools have also quit teaching spelling about the 5th or 6th grade. I had it up through my freshman year in high school.

Now it depends on the teacher. My Dual Credit English teacher would give you 5 mistakes (grammer, spelling, etc.) before he'd toss your paper back to you and tell you to do it again

Same thing with math too. Most people can't do the taxes or simple algebra functions in their head without a calculator...

I find it particularly sad and insulting how several high school graduates can neither spell nor use proper grammar and English structure. Years ago, I met this girl on-line through a fanfiction web site and upon reviewing her story, I gave her a critique. I was hoping she would improve but she never did. When I critiqued her again later on, she 'bit' my head off, telling me I was rude for giving her a critique and tips on how to write better.

I ended up telling her that most College English professors were not going to accept how she writes a paper if written like that. My English professor certainly never did. If you had one misspelled word you received a lower grade.

In my honest opinion, either they are not paying attention to their English teacher while in school, or their teacher isn't teaching correctly. I'm willing to bet it's the former.

I remember as a young MP all of the reports had to be "perfect". Nothing less was accepted. We had an old, crusty 1stSgt that was an English teacher before he was in the Army. It was brutal on some young bucks without a decent education. Being the Army, punishment was a huge (and authorized) motivator.

In my house we speak four languages, my kids have a great deal of an advantage, although it can sound like a UN negotiation at dinner. My wife speaks English as a second language and I am sad to say, the education she received in France is far superior to what I received in the States. I was indoctrinated into the Montessori system in regards to spelling. Horrible, 35 years later I still feel a sense of joy when I spell "tomorrow" correctly, the first time!

Allowing Bill Gates to correct our children's spelling mistakes is a mistake in itself.

It's been brought to my attention a few times that my spelling can be quite bad for my level of education. So now every time my computer corrects a word, instead of just clicking on it right away, I say the spelling out loud once before I let it correct it, I think it's helping, and it's not a bad idea, but everyone in my generation that I tell this too, acts like this thought would have never come to them in a million years, it seemed to be a natural progression to me and I was embarrassed that I didn't start on it before.
unfortunately off the street, but working on a 2-Year CJ Degree (40% Finished).

Yea though I walk through the valley of no radio reception, with backup in excess of 40 miles away I shall fear no evil, for I am a warrior, for whom the ranchers have an affinity, and they can take the head off a gopher at 200 yards.
