Squirrels

I've noticed a rise in vehicular assaults on squirrels in my jurisdiction. I was on patrol today and these two little boys were pointing at the street and flagged me down. In the middle of the road was a squirrel that appeared to have two broken back legs. It was still alive and I used my ASP to assist it in moving off the road. He finally dragged himself off the roadway and the people at the house put him in a box to take him somewhere out of harm's way. It was kind of sad I hope the little guy makes it. About 100 feet away there was a dead one.

Anyone else noticing this disturbing trend? Please motoring public, leave the squirrels alone.

I am very sorry to admit that I accidentally hit a squirrel last week. I thought he was running to the other side of the street, then the squirrel did a u-turn and ran back out into traffic and I had no choice but to hit the poor thing. =[

One of my coworkers has had more than $2000 in damage to his POV because a neighborhood squirrel has decided that the engine compartment is "home." He's declared open warfare, and I don't blame him.

I don't condone cruelty to animals, but squirrels are rats with cute tails.

Well they've never caused me any problems personally so that's why I like them..I have heard attic horror stories though

At least you tried not to hit the little guy and that's commendable..Squirrels have a bad habit of darting to one side of the road then making a quick U-turn and it's almost impossible to keep from hitting one.
I've had to slam on my brakes hard and come to a complete standstill twice this past week to keep from running over squirrels. One just stood there staring at me for almost a minute before he'd get outta the way and allow me to proceed.:D
I'd hate to run over one of these little guys as it would spoil my day.

I had something similar happen. I seen the squirrel crawling towards the sidewalk with the back legs obviously FUBAR. I get out as it gets to the sidewalk. I look around and don't see a soul. Deployed the tree rodent dispatch agent which also know as an ASP. 1 well placed strike and he's no longer in pain. I look around again and see about 10 people looking at me in a horrified stare. I hear a guy say "Hey man was that a snake?" I jump on that and say yeah I just took care of the snake as I kick the lifeless tree dwelling mammal under a bush.

Nope actually I used to hunt them and eat them...I have seen the light though.
