My daughter called today, told me that they stopped at a Walmart between Harrisburg an DC and - moon pie was sold out. Damn.

She will try to get it elswhere

I just saw Moonpie by the case at my local Sams Club... which is Wal Mart's warehouse club or "Daddy" (for Patch).

Unfortunately you have to be a member to buy things in there.

There is a Wally world in most small towns of 15,000 + population in the Nation, it seems.

It used to be that I couldn't stand Collards, Spinach or Kale. They were all bitter globs of green crap to me.

Then my wife made them and I tasted them, largely out of courtesy, and they were fantastic. Its seems she uses some kind of spice in them that takes out the bitterness, but its not coming to me which spice it is... maybe Ginger?... I just can't recall what she told me.

Since two hours the wife and daughter are back home. And they - don't bring me moon pie:(. Instead the bought cookies named Oreo. They aren't bad but they are not moon pie. And - Oreo I get here also.

When I was in the Persian Gulf on 6 month deployments, my sisters and Mom would take turns sending me my moonpies each week. They would sometimes show up all runny and gooey from the heat, but I either drank them outta the wrapper or froze them in our little fridge.

We couldn't get beverages, so I went without my RC cola for the haul, but I get it as a treat now.

I took my wife down to visit one sister in Knoxville, TN and she nearly threw up when we broke out some pickled pigs feet, and hard boiled eggs. She also had never had a section of real smoked crackling, and that she liked. The whole trip was a first for her since she was born and raised here in Buffalo.

Oreo are the best cookies in the world! Oreos with a tall glass of cold milk yum!!
