The ball has been snapped when the quarterback recieves it so yes, its all legal.

It's legal but one has to ask how stupid is the other team? Plenty stupid. Until the whistle blows it's a live play no matter how odd it seems. We used something similar in H.S. The huddle was broke and one guy made for the sideline like he was being substituted. We had a guy on the sideline getting his helmet on in a hurry for effect. Right before he stepped off the field the ball was snapped and he took off up the sideline. Usually with no coverage.

IMHO, trick plays are used by the weaker team.
I had that one tried on me once.
Either they didn't sell it well, or I was just a little too sharp,... I don't know,... but the QB didn't see or expect the coverage and they paid for it with 6 and ended up losing by 12.
My Inalienable Rights were given to me by God and NOT by the Government.

Jeez...that's pee-wee football. If a coach drew up a play like that to win a pee-wee football game, then they're beyond pathetic. Probably some Billy Bob father who thought he was the bomb in high school.
What a loser.

Defense was duped. No requirement for the QB to use verbal cues to have the ball snapped, nor is there a requirement for the offense to move AFTER the ball is snapped. The defense on the other hand should have been all over it as soon as the center moved the ball from the ground to the QB's hands.
Trick plays are an act of desperation... IMHO
