Ain't been around much....

Been very busy planning my move at the end of the month. Moving to Queensland, the state in our north east corner of the country.

Will be resigning from my dept this week and my last day will be around the 28th September.

Have a few plans for employment and lots of applications in at various govt depts. Also have a good fall back plan for those just in case moments.

I don't think I will be joining the local dept up there, but will still look into it soon.

All happened a bit sooner than we expected, but our landlord sold his other house and needs to move in at the end of the month. We wee hoping it wouldn't happen until later in the year, but what can you do??? He's a good guy and has given us as much notice as he could and has been really apologetic. He told my wife that we were the best tennants he has ever had and he is so sorry. Getting a reference from him will be no problems. He also slipped $20 in my son's pocket the other day and told us to get him something nice.

I spend most of my time online looking for jobs or researching houses so unfortunately I don't get much time to pop in here at the moment, but I will be around on a more regular basis soon, hopefully.

We think we found our house to move into. We will rent for the first 6 months and then buy, but the rental we are looking at seems quite nice. Amazing how helpful real estate agents are to find a rental for you when you tell them that you only want it until you find the right house to buy.;)

Anyway, better get back to business. Stay safe everyone and see you all around the board again soon.

Really try to get an LE job, because when I come down to Australia, I wanna be able to say I did a ride-a-long with that baddest mo-fo copper in the southern hemisphere ;)

Thanks. Yeah, the landlord is a good guy. Every time he rings up he always says to gve the little man a kiss and a hug. We bought some cool little cargo pants that have zip off legs to make shorts with the $20 and showed the landlord when he came over the other day. He came over to talk about "kicking us out" and I could see he was so nervous. When I told him that we had been thinking of moving to QLD anyway, and this was the push we needed, he was much more relaxed.

It is going to be a challenge, but life would be boring without them.

HAHA!! I'll see what I can do for you. Unfortunately we only have one dept each state and only 8 states/depts to choose from. Where I work now offers very little job satisfaction and my new state's dept has an 18 week course, even for lateral transfers. I would go to a higher pay level compared to a new recruit, but it would still be a big jump back in dollars compared to what I earn now. There are jobs out there in other fields that offer better pay and no shift work, but if I do miss LE I can always look into it at my new state.

Ride-alongs are not such a common thing here anyway. In my curent dept we were trying to arrange ride-alongs for our civilian staff in the Comms area, so they had a better understanding of what the patrols on the road did, and that was knocked on the head. Too hard for legal reasons.:rolleyes:

I might get a job with a friend of mine for while driving trucks until the other options pan out, and you are more than welcome to come for a ride in that....and help unload fencing material. :p:D

Eep. Sorry that you have to move just like that, but hopefully the move will provide a certain happiness that you may have not been able to obtain before. Who knows, maybe it's for the best the move is occurring? In any case, I wish you and your family good blessings.


And yes, it seems like everyone is MIA. Cinnamon is still gone. And I haven't seen Kazz in quite some time. He needs to return so I can blindfold him again.

Townsville is in the far north. To give a perspective of size of QLD, Melbourne will be closer to where we will be living in QLD than Townsville is.



We will be near Toowoomba in the south of QLD


And since you asked, we are looking at this house to move into at the end of September. :p :D :p :D

Also, as of this morning I have looked at the website for QLD Police, and a few things have changed since I last looked. Will be looking into that as well, so I might not be saying goodbye to LE just yet!

For sure. I have a bottle of Crown Royal that still hasn't been opened since my boy was born (wife breast feeding and all). That porch and that bottle are going to get to know each other well. ;):D

I always though Crown Royal WAS mother's milk! :D I have never heard of Bundy Rum though.
