Anyone been following this? They are saying this is going to be striking right around the same area as Katrina did and have the same power if not more
Almost 3 years exactly too...

They are sending people from the local EMS company to New Orelans right now. They asked me if I took my National Registry and if I passed, I could go down there with them (I guess thats all that would be needed for La.?
Oh well
Hanna made a complete change of track did anyone notice? It looks like this could be interesting...
If it hits New Orleans, I would like to head down there but have no idea how I could....
When Katrina hit, I was on the FD and we were fully packed when city council came out and said no one is leaving its not that bad
God bless all the people in all the surrounding areas of New Orleans.....
God bless them! Prayers.

Are they evacuating ready for this if it's going to be as bad as Katrina?
Thoughts are with those people
If it wasn't for people, my job would be so much easier
This has been in the news for days, where ya been Hockey? It is not predicted to be as severe as Katrina. Katrina was a Cat 5, Gustav is predicted to be a 3 at landfall. There is still a variation in projected trajectories.
That said, the North Texas FEMA station is on full alert, 24 hour operation. Dallas Convention Center is prepared to take evacuees as of today. Dallas County Schools already sent a caravan of buses to the coast. The red cross and other relief organizations are packing up trucks.

The Texas Governor has already declared a disaster, and out guard is mobilized, as has Louisiana.

Remember those who died, remember those who killed them.
If this thing ***** up NOLA like it did last time I will probably be activated.
To anyone who has been activated while in school, are your classes automatically dropped?
It's path is nowhere near Katrina's path (Gustav's bad side may actually hit New Orleans as it heads for Houma). The levees failed the day after Katrina passed.
We have been saying all week that New Orleans is about to get the hurricane everyone thought they got when Katrina hit Mississippi and eastern Louisiana.
New Orleans is about to find out what it means to be on the bad side of a hurricane. It's going to be bad.

Well well well...
I am sitting in NOPD HQ right now.
Lots of similar memories. It has been humid as hell the past few days. Same as right before Katrina.
Almost three years to the exact day too. Ah well at least I don't have to worry about losing my home this time. It got 8 feet of water during the aftermath of Katrina. My wife and kids are not here either, but that could be very good or very bad depending on where the storm hits (they are on the other side of the state).
To be honest things are going smoother this time (at least from my point of view). People for the most part are evacuating in a controlled manner. But you are always going to have some craziness during times such as these.
I am here for the long haul. Going to be interesting to see how it turns out. At least LSU won:D.
I'll drop some updates as time allows if anyone is interested in hearing them.

Life is good...without it we'd all be dead.
Katrina was a 3 also. It was the levees breaking that caused the real damage, not the wind.
Hope they hold this time.

Gustav is a 4 and could possibly become a 5 now that it is in the warm waters of the Gulf.
Good luck to everyone down there and stay safe!
Excuse me Officer, I have a stupid Question. "No problem, I've got a stupid answer for you!"
