    5 years!!

Last week I did an intake on a potential patient and during the legal hx questions I find out that he was incarcerated for attempted manslaughter on a police officer. Apparently, while driving a stolen vehicle high on drugs he hit a police officer (they were being chased) and to my surprise, he only got 5 YEARS for that???

Probably manslaughter because there wasn't a way to prove intent. Also might have been a plea deal.

Before we got mandatory sentencing through a citizens' ballot initiative, that was fairly common in Oregon. And a 5 year sentence would have actually been about 8 months served.

Not to sound to harsh or critical, since I know that you are considering joining us on the blue side, but that sounds about normal to me. Public opinion has swung from, "how dare someone try to hurt one of our Police Officers," to " well there a cop and that's what they get paid for."

Personally that's why I like the rural areas of the country better. Seems to me that the closer to a larger city you get the worse people think of the police. You get out here in the sticks and most people still have some respect.
Excuse me Officer, I have a stupid Question. "No problem, I've got a stupid answer for you!"

The man that broke my neck, fractured my skull in 3 places, fractured my eye sockets, destroyed my frontal sinuses while using my dropped Maglight to do it with was convicted of a Non-violent, (non-felony) Assault, sentenced to 10 years, and came up for Parole within 6 months of his Conviction... 2 months after I was able to return to work.

An Annual petition drive, mounted by my wife & myself, along with assistance from the FOP is the only reason that he served his 4 years before he Maxxed out due to all of his "Good Time".

When they Max out, they don't have to report to a Parole Officer after leaving prison.

In the end, I was forced to retire a few years early directly related to this incident which happened when I was on the job for 5 1/2 years.

A lot of people have more admiration for crooks than they want to admit. Some of the more sheltered ones really like the idea of 'violating society's boundaries', and 'living on the edge'.

I find that their mope fandom lasts about to the point that they're the one getting victimized, of course. But up to then, it's all terribly exciting.

I'm not one of them. After reading what Creeker went thru I think the best thing would have been, after conviction, is to take the son of a ***** outside and shoot him in the head. IMO of course.

Just be glad he got something. Most assaults on USBP don't even get that. Maybe it's because we have to rely on another agency, you know the one Famous But Incompent, to investigate and prosecute all assaults against a USBP agent.

But let an alien make an alegation about how a USBP agent violated their civil rights and see how fast they come out to interview the agent :mad:

Investigating the civil rights violation of an illegal is much more apt to give them the opportunity for a press conference than investigating an assault on an officer. And press is what it's all about for them.
